Biles lived in Spring Texas in the Houston metropolitan area following the time she and her younger sister Adria had been adopted by parents Ronald and Nellie Biles. Simone's love for gymnastics first began at the age of six, during a trip with her day care group to Bannon Gymnastix. Simone remained with Aimee Borman's coaching until 2011. Biles was a winner in the vault and floor exercises at the 2009 Women's Junior Olympic National Championships before moving up to the top competition levels in the year 2011. The following year Biles had a dominating performance in the sport. Biles was notable for her consistent performance, exuberant persona, and the difficult routines she performed across each of the four events including vault, uneven bars, and the balance beam.
